Elder Way, as part of the Northern Gateway regeneration scheme, has been shortlisted for the Regeneration Award in the brand-new 2021 Love Chesterfield Awards.
Once a former Co-op department store and occupying a pivotal site in Chesterfield town centre, Elder Way has since been redeveloped into a 92-bed Premier Inn hotel and eight ground floor and basement restaurant/bar units. The redevelopment has not only preserved the building’s famous 1930s mock-Tudor façade but also breathed new life into it.
Three key regeneration projects have been shortlisted for the regeneration award – Elder Way, Chesterfield Waterside – One Waterside Place and The Glass Yard on Whittington Moor. The schemes are all part of the £1billion of investment currently taking place within the borough.
The award is sponsored by BHP Accountants and all three projects have been voted for by the public.
The Love Chesterfield Awards combine the town’s annual High Street and Food and Drink awards and recognise the heroes of the business community over the last 18 months.

The winners of the awards, organised by Destination Chesterfield in association with Entire FM – Complete Facilities Management and Support, will be announced at a glittering black-tie awards ceremony at the Winding Wheel Theatre on Wednesday 20 October 2021.
