A new campaign encouraging people to get back into the town and support local businesses, has been launched by Chesterfield Borough Council in partnership with Destination Chesterfield.
The launch of the new Love Chesterfield campaign coincides with the re-opening of indoor dining and drinking venues across the town, under step three of the easing of lockdown.
Promoting the town’s quirky independent retailers, unique leisure offering and welcoming hospitality venues, Love Chesterfield will appear in local magazines, newspapers and across social media.
People can now sign up to receive Love Chesterfield email updates, which will include details of local events and ways to get involved with the campaign.
The campaign has been funded by a £96,000 grant awarded from the Reopening the High Streets Safely Fund. In addition to Love Chesterfield, the grant also funded the award-winning Amazing Magical Chesterfield Santa House and Christmas campaign in Chesterfield.
In addition to the successful campaigns, Chesterfield Borough Council is investing £650,000 to improve the town centre. As part of the improvements, the public realm around the town’s Elder Way development is being upgraded, and footpaths improved to create a European street café culture vibe around the area. Trees will also be planted to improve air quality.
The £1.2million public realm improvements will forge an important link between the town centre and the Premier Inn, units at Elder Way, Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre and the Saltergate Multi-Storey Car Park.
The outdoor market will get better lighting and power, improved access and stall configuration, general paving repairs and a new flexible trading areas. The improvements and redevelopment of the outdoor market are expected to be completed by November 2021.
