As well as the public nomination categories, there are also five additional categories in which businesses are urged to put themselves forward for – the Regeneration Award, Accessibility Award, Sustainability Award, Apprentice of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year. Entry to these categories is open until 30 June.

Last year, Elder Way was shortlisted for the Regeneration Award in the 2021 Love Chesterfield Awards.

Mark Hill, Commercial Property Director at Jomast Developments, who has led the regeneration of the former Co-op department store on Elder Way into a hotel and eight contemporary street level business units, commented: “I’m thrilled to see the Love Chesterfield Awards return for another year. There’s so much to celebrate in the town right now, from the new businesses that have opened to the game-changing developments, like the Enterprise Centre, coming out of the ground.”

Recently it was revealed that more than 30 new businesses have opened in Chesterfield town centre in the last 12 months with more due to open in the coming weeks, showing that the town is in a strong position to recover from the pandemic.

In addition to new businesses, since 2021 nine businesses have also expanded into larger premises in the town centre, these include Rebel, Pizza Pi, Vintage Tea Rooms, Bee-Orchid and Twelfth Craft. The state-of-the-art Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre, which is located next to Elder Way, is due to open for business shortly – further boosting activity in the town centre.

Councillor Kate Sarvent, Chesterfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for town centres and visitor economy, said: “It’s great to welcome new businesses to Chesterfield town centre and celebrate those who are expanding and investing in our town. We’re making a significant investment across our town centre which will further boost business confidence by attracting more visitors and shoppers. Our town centre will be the go-to place to live, work, socialise and shop.”
